Reiki is a Japanese technique for channeling of the Universal Life Energy. The word Reiki is also used as a definition of "Usui Natural Healing System" in the honour of the man who has renewed it - the Japanese Mikao Usui ' over a century ago.

Reiki is not a religion. Everybody can be initiated (synchronized) into this energy and get it through the crown or heart chakra. Passing through man the energy spreads as gratuitous God's love and is transmitted to people, animals and plants through his hands and thus helps them to be healed. The process of healing is a result of balancing, purifying and harmonizing of their bodies. This is a perfect healing method of stress, pain relieving and curing of all kinds of physical and psychic diseases.

Our physical bodies are made of energy and the presence of energy provokes different changes. Being aware of this and channeling energy through our bodies to us or other people we can help the performance of transformation which finally results in healing.

The energy is neutral till the moment we add to it our thoughts. If our thoughts are joyful, happy and harmonious our bodies will reflect these qualities. But in case our thoughts are sad, unsatisfied and negative towards anything we can anticipate the appearance of different diseases. We become the thing we are thinking of. Each of us makes his/her own reality through his/her own thoughts.

Reiki is a very effective healing system. The Reiki energy is absolutely safe and can help everybody - from babies to old-aged people. While working with the Reiki energy we'll never exhaust our life energy.

Reiki can relieve fast the physical pain.

Reiki practice is a compound part of the alternative therapeutical practices acknowledged by the International Health Organization (IHO).

The Reiki system cannot be learnt through self-education, reading books and manuals or through watching of videos and films. In order to practise Reiki it is necessary to be personally initiated (synchronized, attuned) by Reiki Master. All those who practise without being initiated don't use Reiki energy but their personal life energy which results in unavoidable health problems.

Reiki is supposed to be an ancient healing system of unknown origin. The modern Reiki system has been known since 1923 when Mikao Usui, a Japanese teacher, began seeking for answer of the question "How did Jesus Christ heal people through hand touching?" Once, while talking with a group of theology studying students before graduation, he has been asked the above question. The students wanted to know why in modern times there were no such healers like Christ after it was written in the Bible that he had said to his disciples: "Heal the sick and bring to life the dead". The students wanted "live" confirmation, not only theoretically, that this kind of healing was possible.

Mikao Usui could not show in practice how this healing really acted, he just believed firmly that it was possible. Being unable to answer the students, and according to Japanese tradition it was an Honour challenge for him, he resigned the position of University Rector and left the Ecclesiastical Academy. The same day he promised himself to find the answer of this mystery. After hard work in different libraries he came to the conclusion that he had to look for the answer at some other place.

He travelled seven years and visited different countries among which India, China and Tibet. He learned Sanskrit in order to read original ancient Indian writings. After coming back to Japan, in an old Buddhist monastery, he found ancient manuscripts with strange symbols which were connected with Christ's healing skills but he still didn't know how to activate and use the energy.

He decided to retire on Koriama mount and to meditate 21 days in full fasting. On 21st day a blinding light lighted him up and enlightened him through his 7th charka. He got into trance and saw different symbols dancing in front of him in a fire dance and so he got his initiation into the energy. He understood how to use the symbols and how to initiate (synchronize) followers and students into this energy. Thus he renewed the thousand-year old healing method known as Reiki.

Coming back to Kyoto Mikao Usui worked hard for a long period in the city streets healing beggars and poor men. After some time he saw that some of the healed people often came back and wanted to be healed again. This made him think and finally he came to the following conclusion:

The patient should be responsible for his own health and not leave this responsibility to his healer who can give him energy and help him but he cannot heal him.
A gratuitously given healing is not enough valued by the patient. He understood that when the patients pay for their healing they value it much more than if they give nothing.
He understood also that people should be responsible for their healing and it could be achieved when they became energy channels, i.e., were initiated (synchronized).

The symbolic Reiki colour is green. This is the colour of health, of healing and of love because it is the colour of the 4th charka - the heart charka, responsible for love and the immune system. The Reiki hieroglyphs are written in gold yellow colour because it is the colour of the Creator, of the divine energy. Reiki is the light which gets us back to the Great Light.

Our transformation into a Reiki channel is a wonderful experience. Reiki cannot cause any harm but it is an extraordinary experience to be a channel through which the energy flows so we can transmit it to the others.

Using the Reiki energy we don't use our life energy but the Universal Cosmic Energy which flowing through us favours both us and the others.

HOW CAN WE TRANSFORM INTO A REIKI CHANNEL

Everybody can be a Reiki channel. There are no age limits or required conditions. Reiki is assessable for everyone including children, old people and ill ones.

After the initiation (synchronizing) a door opens inside us and we meet a new reality. The initiated person becomes a real Reiki channel which means that he/she can always be in contact with the energy and can give it when required; the only thing is to put his/her hands over the place which needs Reiki and the energy begins to flow immediately. The initiation is made by Reiki Master.

DIFFERENT REIKI SYSTEMS

There are different Reiki systems and methods using the same energy. The best known are: Traditional Usui Reiki and Tibetan Reiki; Usui/Tibetan Reiki, Rainbow Reiki, Traditional Japanese Reiki, Ken-Reiki-Do, Osho Reiki; Karuna Reiki; Teramai Reiki; Integrated Reiki; Universal Reiki etc.

Before dying Master Havaio Takata created a Reiki Association called A.I.R.A. (American International Reiki Association). Because of association disorder in 1982 new associations originated and some of the Masters, remaining devoted to A.I.R.A., elected Barbara Veber Ray as Grand-Master. Others, deviating from A.I.R.A., founded "Reiki Alliance" electing as Grand-Master (according to the last Takata's will) her grand-daughter Fillies Lei Furumoto. A third group decided not to accept the resolutions and leadership of both organizations and created its own way of technique interpretation calling themselves traditional or independent Masters thus forming the "Unlimited Reiki" School, and many others forming different centres for working with the Reiki energy. The responsibility for Reiki energy spreading is the same for all Reiki Masters independently which of the basic schools they belong to. The difference between them is approximately the following: A.I.R.A. divides Reiki into seven levels calling it "Radiance Technique" and does not allow any changes in its basic principles from the moment of its establishing; and its Masters should be given permission by the Grand-Master (at present Barbara Veber Ray) in order to initiate other masters. The "Reiki Alliance" School teaches Reiki in three levels, according to Mikao Usui's instructions, and the third level can be divided into two sublevels. The Masters of "Reiki Alliance" School recognize Masters taught in other systems and their Masters can initiate other Masters without the permission of their Grand-Master Fillies Lei Furumoto (1998). Both Reiki lines are valid. Both Grand-Masters have been initiated by Master Havaio Takata and there is no difference in energy submitting.
